Staglands proud to support the Mega Duck Grab
Since 2008 the team at Ducks R Us have been racing plastic ducks down the Hutt River to raise funds for Te Omanga Hospice, Gillies McIndoe, Coastguard NZ and Wellington Free Ambulance. This year it will be happening on Sunday 18th April.
This year Ducks R Us and H2O Xtream are throwing a Pool Party for teens on the night of Friday 26th March with a Mega Duck Grab and we're pleased to support the event by providing some spot prizes and a family annual pass as a major prize.
We wish them all the best for a successful duck race and Mega Duck Grab party. Visit the Ducks R Us website for more information.
Look who visited us recently
We had a special visitor recently at Staglands and he made the time to visit all the animals and a group of families that were up here for their annual Christmas party. He even took our ‘Staglands sleigh’ around the park! Click here to see him on his Staglands sleigh and also with the children.
Hidden treasures - new Fallow Fawns hard to find
They are extremely well camouflaged among the trees and the bush and the untrained eye could easily miss them. But Rodney, our park manager, doesn't miss a beat and found two georgous new fawns. We will be expecting more to be born over the next few weeks and if visitors are lucky they might see them with their mother.
Click here to view one in the trees and one amoung the grass.

Current Projects
At Staglands we are continually developing and creating new areas. We will endeavour to keep you updated on what projects have been added and what new ‘nooks & crannies’ we are currently working on.
We're busy fixing the footbridge
The footbridge in the Forest Wetlands is getting a bit of an overhawl as some of the planks are being replaced.
Bush Settlement
A popular part of Staglands is the old bush settlement, which is a replication of how early settlers to New Zealand lived. We have some exciting developments over the coming months in this area and will keep you updated on what's been happening.
Footpath down at the river
Down by the bushmans bridge the footpath was getting a bit rocky and bumpy. We've now smoothed it out so it's easier to navigate.
We've widened our swing bridge
We had some feedback from visitors to widen our swing bridge and this has now been done in time for the summer break. It's now alot wider so that pushchairs can go across it alot easier.
The Secret Garden
Goldfish pond
This has now been finished in our Secret Garden and is full of goldfish which you can feed with our trout food…
Turtle Pond
This is complete and we're continually adding new turtles to the family that are already there
Kunekune House
We have a new little Kunekune piglet enjoying the new house we built! Their house has been specifically built so people can still see them while they are indoors because, although these plumpy pigs are usually out and about waiting for a passer-by to feed them, they do spend some time napping!
The Stag Rag
This is Staglands e-newsletter where we keep you up-to-date on what’s new at Staglands and some of the special offers we have available. To subscribe please complete the contact us form and tick the box on the form to receive further updates.
