Picnic & BBQ Facilities:
There are numerous idyllic picnic spots to be enjoyed throughout Staglands. We also have complimentary BBQ facilities available for our visitors to use that can be found in our great undercover venue - The Barn & on the BBQ deck alongside The Cafe.
We have EFTPOS available in our ticket office and in our café. We accept payment by Visa & Mastercard. We do not accept American Express.
As wheelchair access is difficult, entry into the park for persons in wheelchairs and their caregivers is free.
Those needing mobility aids can still experience the birds, animals and sights on offer at Staglands but access to some parts of The Reserve is limited. Their experience of the reserve would depend on the ability of their caregivers to move them around.
Please contact us for more information.
Although it is possible to visit The Reserve with a double pushchair, access is tricky in some parts. Backpacks or single push chairs are an easier option.
Filming & Photography:
Amateur photographers are welcome to take photographs or film at Staglands Wildlife Reserve. No advance booking is required and normal admission prices will apply.
For those wishing to shoot commercial film or photographs, please contact us in advance of the planned visit as a location fee will apply. Please note also that Staglands Wildlife Reserve may request access to any images or video produced.

The weather in NZ can change rapidly. Please remember to bring wet weather gear but if you forget don’t fret - Staglands has a range of disposable ponchos and raincoats available for purchase at the ticket office.
