Staglander Annual Pass:

As a valued Staglander Passholder you're helping us provide the best possible care for our birds & animals. We appreciate your support and acceptance of the conditions below:

  • Staglander Passes must be presented upon arrival.
  • Membership may be taken out at any time and is valid for 12 months from date of purchase.
  • Passes are non-transferable and can only be used by the person named.
  • A replacement fee of $5 will be charged for a replacement card.
  • For ID purposes you must provide an email address and have a photograph taken that will be saved on our membership database.
  • Date of birth is required for all children 4 -16 years old.
  • All children aged 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult when visiting.
  • Passholders will receive one pass per person.
  • Join on the day of your visit and entrance fees paid for those named on the application from can be deducted from the total due. The entrance receipt must be attached.
  • Staglands Wildlife Reserve may cancel membership without refund if any of these terms & conditions are breached.

Junior Ranger Experience:

  • Gift voucher recipient must call us to book their experience. A minimum of 72 hours' notice is required to make a booking.
  • Junior Ranger Experience bookings are not available on public holidays or during the two weeks after Christmas.
  • Experience includes entrance to The Reserve for the whole day for the participant(s) plus one accompanying adult.
  • Please ensure you arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of your experience.
  • The minimum age for Junior Ranger is 7 years and the maximum recommended age is 13 years.
  • A parent/guardian must accompany the Junior Ranger. Entry fee for this adult is included in the price.
  • No other family members are permitted behind the scenes.
  • Please ensure appropriate footwear and clothing is worn. This includes hot / cold weather clothing,closed, sturdy shoes or gumboots and waterproofs.
  • Junior Ranger Experience includes a hot or cold drink and snack for participant. Accompanying adult is welcome to purchase items for themselves in our café.
  • Additional adults / children can visit The Reserve on the day and should pay our group admission prices. They cannot however accompany the Junior Ranger.
  • There is no charge to change your booking up to 2 weeks prior to the experience date. Changes requested
    after this date will be subject to Staglands discretion.

One of the best places to go around Wellington, especially with kids! Lovely, very friendly and funny animals, beautiful surroundings. For the 3+ hours we spent there, we smiled and laughed as much as for the previous week? month? :-) Little historical area within the reserve is another remarkable spot.

The staff are very welcoming. The animals were super interactive, sometimes to an amusing extent (being followed by a guinea fowl horde was hilarious). The place is huge, and I think we saw about 98% of it. A beautiful array of feathered friends, fish and furry creatures. Was definitely worth the drive. I'll pop by next time I visit NZ.

Enjoyed wandering through and petting the animals. Great for a family visit, lots of good picnic spots if you don't want to go to the cafe.

100% recommend !!!! You get to pet a lot of animals ! I was hoping the pigs to be roaming around the grass area, but I was still able to pet them over the fence. It’s a huge reserve and got space to do picnics ! I would recommend giving yourself at least 3 hours to see everything ! They got other attractions like a train tour and apparently weddings too. You can walk along the river and feed trouts at the pond. A lot of birds just walking about so won’t recommend if you’re afraid of birds.
